A mission is a week-long journey to serve a needy community. The days are long, but the rewards are abundant. Here is a short video of our 2023 mission to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. There are moments for relaxation but lots of service to our patients.
Our volunteers are young, old, active and retired. Some have joined us after years of service in the medical community. Others have spent their lives in non-medical pursuits including legal, accounting, education, real estate and many other professions. Medical and nursing students joining our missions will experience a unique opportunity for learning that they will cherish forever. Join us!
NOMMS is a totally volunteer organization. Our mission is to provide medical services to disadvantaged communities in Central America, South America and the Caribbean islands. Our volunteers include doctors, nurses, technicians, and lay people who want to participate and help.

Four or more times a year we fill up a shipping container with medical supplies and equipment, then off they go to the many hospitals we serve. Some shipments have gone as far as Ukraine.
Once or twice a year we organize a medical mission, taking doctors, nurses, technicians, and volunteers to a needy community. Recent destinations have been Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, Matagalpa, Nicaragua, and Guayaquil, Ecuador. The week-long missions are very busy, but our volunteers are dedicated clinicians. As a participant, you will work with highly motivated individuals. Many will become life-long associates.

Volunteers meet twice a week at our 9,000 square foot warehouse in Elmwood Industrial Park. We collect medical supplies and equipment from hospitals, clinics and individuals from the surrounding areas. The supplies and equipment are inspected and sorted. Much goes on our missions, while others are sent to our supported hospitals.
